How to Up Your Website’s Search Engine Ranking

The golden rule, “content is king,” applies here! It’s important to have content on the pages that include the key word phrases you think most relevant to people searching for your Web site.

Be sure that the HTML code is optimized for the keywords; i.e. use keyword phrases in page titles, image “alt text” tags, heading “<h2>” tags and create hypertext links that include keyword phrases.

Update content on a regular basis. A monthly newsletter is still a great way to keep your page content current and to use keyword phrases at the same time.

Get “incoming links” to your Web site from real Web sites. The more Web sites that link to your site the higher your Web site will rank in Search Engines.

» Be sure your navigation is coded so that Search Engine Crawlers can follow the links (no bad JavaScript, Flash, etc.)

Take a look at the overall site to be sure there are not problems that may keep Search Engines from indexing your entire Web site.
